How does a 27yo in th UK go about undertaking a vocational training programme to change career?

i have mainly been working in hospitality and retail but i really don't enjoy it. actually i hate it. i would like to get into electrical installation/engineering, refrigeration/air conditioning engineering or plumbing.

i'm confident i have the practical and intellectual ability to achieve this but i need to find an opportunity to train and get experience.

it seems like opportunities for a 27yo are far fewer than somebody a little younger, how can i overcome this?How does a 27yo in th UK go about undertaking a vocational training programme to change career?
I know you may not want to hear this but take this time in your life to get a real college degree. If you look at the national rate of unemployed, people without college degrees represent the highest number. Take it from me, find yourself a major university and stay there until you have a Masters Degree. It will change your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
