I am wanting to switch careers after working in IT Development the last 10 years. I am burned out and need change. I would like to get into a less hands on technical role and get into Management. I have an undergraduate degree in Information Systems and have pondered going back for my MBA. However, there are no guarantees this would help me find a better job. I don't mind staying within the Technology sector, but I just don't want to do development work anymore. Your comments are appreciated. How do you change career after 10 years in the same field?

I understand where you are coming from. I have an undergrad in IS but I really like accounting and management. Is there any way you could transfer to another department in the company? Also, is there a possibility to get a managemnt promotion in your own department? Good luck man!How do you change career after 10 years in the same field?
Just do it. If it fails, go back to work. I left my job and started my own business in an industry that I had no training, no experience, no contacts, no leads and in a different country.

I am retired with a Laptop and I have a Computer Consultant who charges $70.00 per hour plus a Travel charge if he visits. He keeps busy all the time. If you did something like that - you would be your own boss. How do you change career after 10 years in the same field?
