I would like to change careers to nursing. How do I know if I'm cut out for it or not?

I'm currently working as a Medical Market Research Analyst. I'm not happy working in the Corporate World. I'm a nurturing person who loves to help people. The longer I work in Medical Market Research, the more interested I become in the medical field. Right now I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business but would really like to go back to school t become an RN. How can I be sure nursing is right for me? I am 40 years old. Am I too old to make this change now?I would like to change careers to nursing. How do I know if I%26039;m cut out for it or not?
You're never too old! There are no limits in life when you want to change things for the better. There are no life police...If you have the money, take the chance! But if you're afraid of blood, and other unsightly things you find in a hospital, maybe it's not for you.I would like to change careers to nursing. How do I know if I%26039;m cut out for it or not?
You are not too old. Try some part-time volunteer work on weekends. Hospitals are always looking for volunteers. It will give you a chance to see if that kind of work is what you are really looking for. Good luck. JackI would like to change careers to nursing. How do I know if I%26039;m cut out for it or not?
I don't think you are too old either, but companies do look at age. I think if you can get into a nursing program, go for it! I just read in the paper about how many people are applying for nursing schools %26amp; not getting in because of shortages in nursing teachers!! So don't just apply at one school, apply at several.I would like to change careers to nursing. How do I know if I%26039;m cut out for it or not?
They are right!!! You are never too old. My mother recieved her bachelors in Business when she was 35 and last year at age 45 she recieved her Masters in Theology and is in school now. Next year she will have her Masters in Business. Before you just apply to a school---even though you have a bachelors, you are going to be starting the nursing program for scratch because it is very different---, try it out first. Search local hospitals websites and look for volunteer opportunities that will give you both direct and indirect patient care. In my state, there are a few non-charitable hospitals for children and adults. Find out what your preference is. The hospital i used to work at women would make blankets and stuffed animals for the children who had surgery. It meant a lot to see smiles on their faces even though they just had their arms/or legs amputated.

I have to admit not all the nurses I worked with liked their jobs. Some become nurses because of the shortage and the pay but their hearts are not in it. Patients can tell the difference.
