How can I make a career change to HR Generalist /Assistant from Administrative Assistant?

I have over 8 yrs. of experience in the Administrative field but, I'm burnt out with being an Admin. and I really want to change careers preferably to the HR field.How can I make a career change to HR Generalist /Assistant from Administrative Assistant?
It depends upon your company employee advancement planning for retention. Some will teach and train while others will look outside for those with specific credentials and training. Due to the increase in employer liability, most are looking for folks with degrees in this area and certification from the Society of Human Resource Management. I recommend checking out your company's advancement policies and possibly taking classes in HR maybe even online so as not to cramp your schedule.
