There are tons of things your friend can do. Have him look at all these career fields and see if anything jumps out at him. He can read all about each one, what it means, what you would do, salary, etc. There are so many specialized schools around that all he would have to do is put in his zip code and he would be presented with multiple schools in his area that have courses in what he is looking for. You can look up anything on this site from becoming a chef to a medical assistant. Its a great resource for someone who is looking to change careers. It is never to late to become great! I am 28 (relatively still young) and chasing after a medical career. I feel in my mind I am a late starter. I would tell him to research his career, and take the steps to do it. First start college and info on it. Good Luck. Alot people to come into their own until later down in life. You put some feelers out, and send out some resumes. But don't quit the one you have until you're positive you've found a replacement. The law says employers can't discriminate based on age, but you know they do anyway. It's so much harder for an older person to find a job.
