No, not at all. I am 39 and I hv changed career thrice and all the time with grand success. It is all on a person's judiciousness about time and money management. Is 40 too old to change careers just because you%26039;re bored, and how does one go about it?
Not at all.
There was a good article in Money magazine last fall about this.
You want to look at what you're doing and what you want to do, as well as your demands (kids in college, house payments, medical circumstances) and your ambitions (buy a bigger house, have more kids, make more money or find more satisfaction). Knowing where you are and where you're going is 2/3s of it.
Getting there means looking at whether you need more education (I recommend the public school's outreach portions and private school's weekend classes, but not U of Phoenix), certain certifications (ie, series 7 securities certificate or teaching certificate), or just seed capital for a new business.
Also be sure to set up a reasonable timeline for yourself. If you need a degree, plan on taking 3 or 4 years, or more, and don't be frustrated - you are balancing a LOT of responsibility, and it needs to be done carefully.
Good luck!Is 40 too old to change careers just because you%26039;re bored, and how does one go about it?

I will be 50 in September and I'm in college switching from landscaping to nursing. Go for your dream. As my mother says, %26quot;how old will you be if you don't change things?%26quot;Is 40 too old to change careers just because you%26039;re bored, and how does one go about it?
Forty is not too old.. I did it.. I made the leap..no plan. I quit my job and decided to go travelling in Europe, from Canada. I found a small town I liked and stayed, been here 6 years, and am running my own little property management/cleaning company.. AND IT麓S GREAT!.. now you don麓t have to do anything that drastic, it麓s not for everyone, but just make the decision and do it.. Try and do something where you are self employed, and no matter what, be 100 percent reliable, and you will do well. It麓s hard work being self employed..but it麓s worth it.Is 40 too old to change careers just because you%26039;re bored, and how does one go about it?
I have experience in helping with career changes. Especially when the person making the change would prefer the freedom of self employment. The process is especially beneficial for people who still have their old job and can make a gradual change from their job into their new career. Incomes above $100,000 are possible within a two year period. The most valuable part is the ability to create a permanent and ongoing income. Most people could afford to leave their old job long before reaching the full income level. Want to no more? The advice is free.
