From what to what? How long will you wait to make the leap? How will you deal with changes in income or lifestyle? Will you change careers someday?
Very interesting question with a lot of absolutely worthless answers (I hope mine does not fall into that category).
To rephase your question, do you ever stop wondering what you want to be when you grow up? And I know that as I near retirement (5-10 years), the answer is No. I'm working on plans as I retire to start another career. I'm going to do some volunteer work to see if I really want to be involved in the new field.
I think most people will change jobs, however, changing careers will happen less. I differentiate between the two by saying that you grow a career and you work at a job. So you can make a career of interacting with the public or working with technology but have many jobs along the way that do that. Sometime you're able to make the move on your own and others are beyond your control as you are affected by takeovers, mergers, layoffs, etc.
I'm pretty conservative so I usually don't make a move until I already have a place to land if possible. I learned early in life that a lot of people get trapped in jobs that they don't care for by living a lifestyle that they don't want to give up. One of my first jobs were with people who didn't like their jobs but had gotten married, bought houses and cars and boats and couldn't afford to switch careers since the new income would not maintain their lifestyle. So why all those things are good to have, don't encumber yourself at too young an age if you want flexibility.
I would recommend reading %26quot;The Joy of Not Working%26quot; by Zelinski. I don't agree with everything he says but the book is thought provoking.
Good luck to you, remember that Life is the Journey! Will you change careers someday?

Knowledge is deliberate you from slave to your job that not suitable, not pay, and that you don't enjoy.
You can work at home and you can learn from home too. Lots of option, when is time to chose job would be to your advantage!
These days with technology life cycle of things come within two years or so, RUN!
