How difficult is it to change careers in this economy? I know that there are a lot of unemployed people out there and there is probably a lot of competition for work now. I'm wondering, for people out there looking to change careers, wouldn't it be difficult to do so under these circumstances?



Of course people would tell you to %26quot;TAKE CLASSES%26quot;, but in the end with a lot of people looking for work, I would think that experience would go a lot further. But then again if you have no experience most employers may not even consider you.

Please be aware that I am no %26quot;expert%26quot; (and neither is anybody else blathering away on Yahoo answers!) If you retrain for a job that is in high demand right now, then changing careers would be an excellent move, ESPECIALLY in this economy. Some pockets, things like health care jobs, some computer software jobs, and others, are in very high demand, in spite of this economy. Whatever you do, go toward something like that, something in demand.



True: employers are looking for experience, BUT... there is also a lot of demand for entry-level workers (lower paid). If you are willing to start at the bottom, you can move into a high-demand career as long as you have the required training.



If you cannot target a high-demand career and start over at the bottom at lower pay, then I would say %26quot;stay put%26quot; in your present job and hope for the best.How difficult is it to change careers in this economy?

Well if you're going to change careers - better change it so something that is in high demand. Nursing is pretty tempting with the unlimited job supply and bonuses everywhere you go.
