I graduated from college 8 years ago and have already settled. I have a home and student loans so it would be difficult for me to start all over from the bottom again. Wow, this is one of the first times I agree with a previous answer. I don't want to repeat what a prevous response is, so I will just say maybe it's time to try another alternative as opposed to consistently doing what society says is the way to success. Another job probably will not give you the fulfillment you want out of life. It hasn't worked for 95% of the population, so what are the odds that it will work for you? Find your why, then find a way to achieve it.

The first question you need to ask yourself is %26quot;Where do I want to go from here?%26quot; What is it that you want out of life that you are not currently getting? Is it time freedom, financial security or is it a personal satisfaction that is not being met? What is it in your life that is not being fulfilled?
Your question above is very general in nature. In my experience, if you cannot define your %26quot;why%26quot; for wanting to change and if you don't have a plan for where you would like to be in the next 1-5-10 years, then you are not going to find what your heart truely desires.
I show people the importance of defining that %26quot;why%26quot; and then I show them how they can achieve the goals that they want and deserve.

I assume that you are a Pharmaceutical Rep. and are tired of all the pressure that is mounted on you to deliver the sales. Sometimes a bit unrealistic. I am in the same shoes as you only that I am an engineer.
When you look at the compensation, benefits and flextime that you enjoy it is sometimes difficult to really pin point what you will want to do after wards. Try looking for something that will not be too much of a radical change because you might get bored and the next thing you know you will be out there looking for another Job. If you were in the pharma industry for 8 years then your are probably a sales driven, results oriented individual. So stick to something along these lines and you should be fine if the above applies to you.Career change advice?
Changing to another profession isn't too difficult, as long as the job you're after doesn't require a great deal os specialized training. But you need to bone up on the field and master the vocabulary so that you can sound like you know what your talking about. Your accountant background will be very helpful in many other occupations.
Your accounting job has given you insight into a wide range of business activities -- insight few other occupations can experience. That broad understanding of the business is highly desirable even when applying for a job that focuses on a single element of a business operation. I would say that's your primary selling point.
