I have a first degree and master in engineering and have over 3 years of engineering experience. Am very bored with my job and considering a career change to accounting. I would like to know how possible this is at 30 years old and no background in accounting. Is it as easy as undertkaing qualification exams ?or do I need to get an accounting degree and what is the reaction in the industry to career changersHow possible is it to change career from engineering to accounting at age 30 and over. what does one need todo?
Actually this is difficult question for me...

ok just to the point.... engineering n accounting is verymuch difference, for people who like stay behind the desk n have good memory, patient etc... of course in engineering also need all of that.. but in different situation..

you know about your self, if you boring doing engineering (you not mention what kind engneering) you can stop the job n do it later... in accounting if you are boring, the jail is open wide waiting for you, and also not easy learning again from the scratch. I know n you know in this modern world accouting job is more easy, the computer do the calculation, the softwares do the job...

at the age 30 you still can do any thing, included accounting

your mind n your heart n your spirits need to go together..

learning accounting not like you learn engeneering n of course you need to get one degree for accounting..

You need to get qualified as you did in engineering, but won't need an acounting degree. In fact, they rarely like peope to be 'trained' as they like to do it themselves.

You may find it difficult to get on to a graduate scheme with one of the big accounting firms, but not so much because of your age, but because they are heavily over-subscribed.

Get in touch with the trade bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the ICAEW, etc and they will be able to advise you.How possible is it to change career from engineering to accounting at age 30 and over. what does one need todo?
You are bored with engineering and you want to go into accounting, why? Accounting can be super super boring as all you are doing is following rules and checking to see if other people are following rules - all in numbers. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Engineering is about solving things isn't it? Really, I'd advise you to have some assessments to see where your strengths are and base your career change on that. 30 is not too old but there are risks to anything. Best of luck.
